By now, you all know how obsessed I am with all things autumn. First, the colors of the season are just dreamy. Second, the landscapes take on a whole new perspective in pursuit for a new beginning. Third, there are so many fun activities and props for fall photography. I mean, who doesn’t love a trip to the pumpkin patch or apple orchard?
Anyways, if you’re looking for a little fall photography inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. Here is a list of my, top five, all time favorite fall photography ideas.
1. Pumpkin Patch
I mean, we might as well start at the beginning. You were thinking it, so here it is. Pumpkin patch pictures are always something I look forward to shooting.
One of my favorite poses is with a mini pumpkin over the eye. I usually do this same shot idea in the apple orchard. I follow it up with a cheesy caption like “apple of my eye,” but it totally works in the pumpkin patch too.
You have so many pose options in a pumpkin patch, as well. You can hold a pumpkin, sit on a pumpkin, or toss it up in the air for a cute action shot. Basically the objective is to feature the pumpkin.
2. Book Photo
Everyone knows how much I enjoy a good book. I am, without a doubt, a seasonal reader. Fall and Winter are my favorite times of the year to dive into a captivating cozy mystery or thriller. Book photos are so much fun to incorporate in your fall photography. You can take selfies of you reading a good book, a shot of the book with a dreamy backdrop, or stage a really cute fall flat lay. The ideas are endless when it comes to book photos.
If anyone is looking for a good cozy mystery, make sure to check out The Sloan Krause series by Ellie Alexander & A Magical Bakeshop Mystery series by Bailey Cates. These two series will keep you entertained all season long!
3. Sunflower Field
Ladies, be honest, how many of you have shamefully dragged your spouse to a sunflower field on his one day off? If you haven’t, then you’re clearly not living in my world. Poor Jeff gets snatched up for all types of desirable photos shoots during the fall season. They are obviously undesirable to him, but.. oh well, haha!
Sunflower field shots are perfect for a sunny, fall afternoon. Obviously the sunflowers thrive on sunlight, so make sure you plan for a gorgeous day or you won’t get the desired results.
All types of flower shots can be taken. Some of my favorites are couples shots, family photos, the solo in the field shot, or even just showcasing the beauty of a lone sunflower always is a fan favorite. Sunflowers are so beautiful that the photography speaks for itself.
4. Apple Orchard
Have you seen my latest Instagram Reel yet? It’s a memory of last years trip to the apple orchards with my sister.
A trip to the apple orchard is always something I look forward to. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that my sister is an award winning apple pie baker. Clearly, I’m always up for a trip to the orchards.
Fun fact, Apple pie is my all time favorite treat!
Anyways, roaming the orchards calls for dozens of ideas of creative ways to take fall photography shots. Photos in the beautiful rows of blossoming fruit always turn out amazing, and you get to use the cheesy “apple of my eye quote” I mentioned earlier for your caption. In conclusion, the apple orchard is a MUST stop during the early fall season.
5. Beverage Shots
I’m sure you’re thinking that I’m nuts for adding this to my top five list. But just think about how many delicious beverages you can feature this time of year! I’m talking anything from the obviously pumpkin spice latte to the mulled wine of a fall afternoon at the vineyard. The possibilities are endless.
Beverage shots are some of my favorite ways to authentically share some of my favorites drinks with everyone.
During the fall season, you can most definitely find me sipping on assortments of hot tea, fresh apple cider, hoppy beers, and so many more. The choices are endless, y’all!
Grab your favorite cup of “whatever” and head outside for an evening landscape shot. Winding down with a delicious beverage is exactly how I want to spend my fall afternoons and evenings. You’re welcome!
In Conclusion:
