PNW & Alaska: Travel Gear, Camera Equipment, & Packing Favorites

As I sit down to write out my recent travel favorites, I can’t help but hear the Sound of Music tune of “My Favorite Things” playing in the background.

After the DM’s from everyone, recently asking for links, it felt like the right time to come online and share a few of my recent travel favorites.

Jeff and I recently went on a whirlwind adventure to the PNW, which OBVIOUSLY prompted a little upgrade in our camera equipment, gadgets, and gear. We absolutely love our Sony Alpha, but wanted to focus on a few other, more affordable, items.

Paper Shoot: “Sustainable” Disposable Camera

This eco-friendly digital camera snaps the most beautiful shots, leaving you with an old school FILM finish. It’s obviously not a disposable camera, but the concepts and finish are the same. All you need are two AAA batteries and a memory card.

Here are some of my favorite shots taken with this baby.

One of my favorite things about this camera is the option to change filters within its original system. You have the basic option of shooting in color without a filter, black and white, an orange toned filter, and a blue toned filter are the four options. The above photos show the original “color” option.

Here are a few examples of the other filters:

Amazon Basics: 21-inch Carry On Luggage Spinner

As a road trip lover, we have always been big LL BEAN Boat Tote & backpack users. Throwing a tote in the trunk seems like no big deal, but things change when you fly. We knew we needed something new, easy, and affordable. I was a bit skeptical over the thought of buying “Amazon Basics” luggage. Amazon makes so many great things, but I questioned this purchase. Let me tell you, I’m sad that I even hesitated for a moment. This $88 piece of luggage was everything a $300+ designer piece offers, and more! Plus, it’s durable and stylist. If you’re in the market for any type of luggage, please consider this set. We got away with each packing one of these carryon’s and one backpack for a 10+ day trip. Our winter coats fit with zero problem!

Think Tank Photo Urban Access 13 Side-loading Backpack

While we’re on the topic of luggage, there is no was I would have survived without my Think Tank: Urban Access Backpack. I didn’t have to spare or sacrifice a single piece of gear on this trip. Everything I wanted to bring, including my SonyA6000, 35mm, 85mm, Tamron 11-20mm, and two kit lenses fit comfortably in this pack. Let’s not forget that the Urban Access 13 even accommodated my laptop, cords, memory card holders, external hard drive, tripod, and the random beanies and socks I threw in at the last minute. (*You never know when you’re going to need a pair of dry socks, so this wasn’t the worst idea I’ve ever had.)

Anyways, this backpack fits comfortably on my plus size body. I have nothing but amazing and kind things to say about Think Tank and their products.

Stay tuned for all my favorite “lifestyle” travel picks. I have a ton to share!
