Just my weekly pop in to chat about self care. I am not only on my own journey to find eternal peace and happiness, but I am also on the journey to normalize the conversation about mental health and self care. With that being said, I wanted to share with you all the things that have been helping me lately.
My recent go to “self care” practice has been getting outdoors. So many of you have reached out to me about the landscape and backgrounds of my recent posts. I am lucky to live near these beautiful gardens and greenery. It has become a second home and I will continue to take advantage of this backyard, close to home beauty. I try to get outside daily, take in the fresh air, and reflect on the previous day. For me, I need daily reflection. I need time outdoors to soak in the beauty that lives under our feet. In Maryland, we’ve been hit with a lot of rain showers as of late. Earlier this week I still made an effort to get outside, despite the rainy elements. Obviously, I wouldn’t recommend putting your health at risk, but for me, a light rain wasn’t going to stand in my way.
I love bringing a blanket and book outside and just getting lost in the surrounding colors and story of my current novel. This might not be your cup of tea, but it surely works for me and my mental health. Plus continuing to live out my Jane Austen fantasy while working on my mental health seems like a double win, if you ask me!
This is just a tiny reminder to take time for yourself. Try and make your wellness a priority amongst the many, many tasks you are dealing with daily. I would love to hear about your self care and mental health journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out via Instagram DM.
