If you listened to my recent ‘Chapters & Tea’ Top 5 tea favorites episode, you will know that I am still obsessing over the Green Paddock Pom Pom from Saratoga Tea & Honey Co. I wish you could smell the cup in my hands. These leaves are a blend of green and black tea along with rosehips, raspberries, and pomegranate. It has the perfect amount of caffeine that helps me get through an afternoon of writing, photo editing, and lets even say podcast recording while not being so strong I can’t wind down in the evening. Ive added a dash of raw honey to add a little more sweetness. Ever since I got a glimpse and taste of the honey room in Saratoga Springs, I have been on the hunt to find local raw honey here in Maryland. We are a large farm state so the search hasn’t been too strenuous. The hard part is deciding which are my favorites. Ive tried to educate myself on the different types and flavors. I don’t know much, but I am a fan of the floral notes in Wildflower honey. Yum, some of my favorite. From what I read, the health benefits on raw honey aren’t too bad either. I was blown away by the lists of things honey can help with.
Now that I’ve had two cups of tea while discussing honey, it’s time to chat and bring back my weekly conversations on my favorite cozy mysteries. I’d like to pick back up with one of my favorites. I know I’ve mentioned this one before, but it never hurt to bring back conversation on a favorite to me but new to you. The series I want to start with is “A Witch’s Cat Mystery” series by Delia James.
In the first book of a “Witch’s Cat Series,” by Delia James, we meet Annabelle Britton, a young lady who cant seem to settle down. Unhappy in work and personal life, Annabelle decides to take a visit to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to visit her best friend and chef Martine. Once Anna gets to Portsmouth, she soon realizes that some unresolved secrets wait for her. Annabelle figures out more family history and seems to be drawn to figure out her past, present, and future in this exact town. Upon arrive, Annabelle finds herself feeling vibes and catching waves of intuition that actually turn out to be magical powers. Shortly after finding out about her magical family history in Portsmouth, Annabelle, along with the strange connection of new feline friend and now magical familiar, Alistair, find themselves in the hunt to disclose and solve the town’s latest scandal and murder, while trying to figure out why her Grandmother kept these secrets whole life. We follow along, with Anna, her “maybe” new coven sisters and towns folk as we try to solve the death of Alistair’s former owner when she suddenly turns up dead.
This hits home plate for me when picking my favorite cozies. What more could you ask for than a girl who finds out she’s a witch, gets to hang out with her with cat friends all day, and helps solve crime with her new magical powers? Home run, if you ask me. Anyways, this has been one of my favorite series since the first book came out in 2016. As I mention is practically every episode, I am a serial re-reader and couldn’t think of a better series to listen to on audio. I have been racking up credits on audible, and decided to give this three book series, so far, a listen. The narrator has inspired me to let you all know how great this version also is. If you are an audio listener, check A Witch’s Cat Mystery series out on audible or whichever steaming service you prefer.
With that being said, I hope you enjoyed the overall recap and discussion on this series. My dream and goal is to chat about a different cozy mystery each week. I can’t wait to discuss the second book in A Witch’s Cat Mystery series, as its my favorite in this series. Spoiler alert, Anna really embraces her new witch life and helps solve a pretty creep crime! Stay tuned for next weeks episode.
