TEA TIME & COZY MYSTERY CHIT CHAT (Ep. 3)

Let’s get right to it and chat a little about a brand new tea favorite of mine. Purity, Aroma, and Inspiration make up Paromi, a tea company located in my home state of Maryland. Paromi proudly offers only the best ingredients found all over the world. Today I am sipping on Botanical Garden, an herbal infusion, made of apple bits, hazelnut leaves, lavender flowers, sunflower blossom, rose hips and petals, mallow and marigold blossom, and peppermint. Right off the bat it covered a few of my absolute favorite flavors; apple, lavender, and peppermint. I’ll be honest and say I probably wouldn’t have thought to put those together, but I’m sure glad the innovative team over at Paromi genously thought to do so. Paromi now offers monthly subscription boxes, which I absolutely love! You can buy them in bundles of one month, three months, or six months. There are money saving opportunities based on how many months you order at a time. For $30 a month, you get four bags of loose leaf teas and infusions made up of a green or white tea, black tea, herbal infusion, and fruit infusion. This box makes over 36 cups of tea, not to mention the re-steeping capabilities for tea lovers like me that don’t just stop after drinking one cup. If you want to check out more about this brand, head to my Instagram page @SarahS_Reads and click on the link in my bio. This prompt will give you direct access to the Paromi page. Trust me y’all, this tea is good and you will definitely want to hop on the bandwagon.

Lets dive into our cozy mystery chit chat. For those of you that are new to my channel its time you know that the Chapters & Tea podcast has decided to bring back weekly cozy mystery recommendations and discussions featuring some of our favorite cozies. The past two weeks we talked about “A Witch’s Cat Mystery” series featuring A Familiar Tale and By Familiar Means by Delia James. In the first book, A Familiar Tale, we meet Annabelle Britton, a young lady who can’t seem to settle down. Unhappy in work and personal life, Annabelle decides to take a visit to Portsmouth, New Hampshire to visit a friend and ends up sticking around after discovering her hometown attachment and newly discovered gift of magic. Along the way we stick with Annabelle as she helps solve a murder while processing this brand new life ahead of her.

In the second installment, By Familiar Means, Annabelle is once again caught up in a murder investigation. This time, Annabelle vows to help clear her name along with the names of some good people well known in Portsmouth. When Anna is hired to help paint murals for a brand new coffee house, her vibe instantly takes her down a basement tunnel resulting in a dead man and a crime to be solved. Anna, along with the help of her grandmother, coven sisters, and familiar Alistair, team up, use their skills, and help put the right people behind bars!

In the third installment, Familiar Motives, we find Annabel, once again, caught up in another murder investigation that hits a little closer to home. The day after meeting local veterinarian, Ramona Forsythe and her famous celebrity patient, Ruby, better known as “Attitude Cat,” we find Ramona dead and Ruby no where to be found. Once again Anna teams up with her coven sisters and Alistair to solve the murder and potential cat-napping before certain mentors and friends start taking drastic measures and pointing fingers.

I really enjoyed this third book. I was engulfed and intrigued from the very beginning. Once again Delia James stumped me and I was unsure of the real killer till the very end of the book. Having the opportunity to listen to this on audio, the second go around, really helped with the suspenseful questioning and constantly kept me on my toes. Anna and her coven sisters really make up a dynamic character line up. I really enjoyed getting to know them over the last three books and am sad to see this series come to an end. To be honest, I don’t even really know if this is a trilogy or a series that has many more to come. A new book hasn’t been released in over two years and I can’t find any information confirming otherwise. Some people say trilogy and some people say more will eventually come. Who knows? Either way, I would definitely be a fan of continuing this series. I am all about character development and really enjoyed what Delia did here.

Although I’m sad to wrap up “A Witch’s Cat Mystery” series, I am excited to chat about the tons of other favorites I can’t wait to discuss with you all. Please send me all your suggestions and recommendations. I am not set on a specific series to cover next, as I am a lover of so many adorable, amazingly written, cozy mystery series. If you want to throw an idea out there, feel free to DM me. I am not set in stone on anything. That’s what makes this chit chat style so much fun.
